One of the biggest literary events of 2023 occurs today (17 January), when Bret Easton Ellis’ first novel in 13 years, ‘The Shards’, finally gets released. The American author best known for his controversial 1991 novel ‘American Psycho’ returns with a fictionalized memoir of his final year of high school in 1981 in Los Angeles – his first since ‘Imperial Bedrooms’ in 2010.
